What should I learn if I want to create 3D website animations, characters and games?

I want to create great-looking animations and games that are displayed on a website. Should I learn canvas/SVG or do I need any specific frameworks for that purpose?

3D animations and games that contain 3D animations and 3D characters

You should learn JavaScript with canvas/SVG to make these animations since they are 2D, pretty straightforward and don't require a lot of user interactions.
For the 3D game, I recommend that you build on top of existing JavaScript "game engines". You can imagine that these "game engines" will have a lot of pre-built features, like a physics engine, for you to use. Check them out in the following list:
