Previous to Altcademy, I had never coded before, and was timid to approach this subject which I thought to be extremely difficult.

However, after starting the Full-stack Web Development program on Altcademy, I was able to expand my knowledge about coding, and become confident in my programming skills.

The program is difficult, but the mentors are phenomenal in answering questions, and making the concepts more understandable. I have enjoyed this program so much, and especially how you can work as slow or fast as desired, based on your own schedule and skill level. It has been a great experience, and I am so pleased with my knowledge so far and can't wait to continue to learn more!

User-friendly platform, great mentor, flexible schedule & step-by-step curriculum

First of all, I gotta say my mentor is very friendly and helpful. He is very fast in responding and very patient especially when you are a beginner and you have got tons of questions to ask.

Even though sometimes i am very busy with work and behind in schedule, they will allow me to hand in the assignments late (p.s. i'm not suggesting to hand in late lol) so it's very flexible and this is what i like about them the most.

The program is very practical and definitely relevant to work. I knew nothing about coding before taking the courses from Altcademy, but now i would say it helped me a lot in my career and down the path as well. Organized Content & Interactive Learning

Before joining the full stack web development program held by Altcademy, I have fundamental knowledge on HTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP and MySQL. The reason for me to join is that I want to enhance my skills in Javascript and web development is a good start for me to jump into other advanced developments like mobile app or Blockchain.

The teaching content is very organized. It is easy to learn and the program teaches me step by step on both theories and practical examples.

Small exercises are provided in every single section in order to recall what I have just learnt. By the end of each large section, I have to go through some small projects which give me a big room for creating a website from scratch.

When I have questions, I am able to get fast responses from either Slack channels or chatbot.

This course is highly recommended if you are not from a very technical background but want to touch on programming. But you have to be self-motivated and very focused to learn.

Great start for people who have no experience! My mentor is very helpful and flexible. They are also super fast at responding to all of my questions.

I really appreciate how logical the program materials are structured, and it saved me so much time understanding the hierarchy of each programming language.

The program offers a lot of exercises, instead of remembering the commands mechanically, I can literally learn by doing. The cloning projects were very helpful to train my independency, that being said, whenever I need help, my mentor Xiao has been very quick to respond.

The freedom of the program also leaves me time and room to explore related subjects and further my skills, being more of an independent learner, this is the perfect rhythm for me.

Before completing the program, I found a software engineering job at a major consultancy company.

This program is definitely a great starting point for the people who like to learn front-end web development. All the curriculums are well structured and easy to understand for beginners. And it's also a big plus for the mentors that I can reach if I need. And it's nice that I can finish the entire program by my own pace in just a few months.

I took the Front-end Web Development program and it has been a very rewarding experience. Harry and Xiao are very knowledgeable and dedicated mentors. Altcademy has its own Q&A platform and Slack channel where I am able to post any questions I have or whenever I get stuck at any problems.

Mentors are very quick to reply too so that you do not feel lost which can impede your progress which is often the case with other online courses. In addition to that there is 1-on-1 video conferencing office hours which give me opportunity and ample time to discuss and interact with mentors and check on my progress.

Completely worthwhile Frontend Course

I started this course with little to know knowledge of frontend technologies. I left this course knowing that I needed to learn more, but now I had a really strong idea of what to do and where to improve.

I have to thank Altcademy for their patience with me and their flexibility. They really took the time to help me understand things, and with a strong emphasis on fundamentals first.

The program is not only built for beginners, but for people who are looking to add more to their existing skill set. Frontend technologies is nothing new, but they really take you through the nuance that you need to understand if you want to work in this business. Can't say enough about them.

Front-end Web Development is an Awesome program!

First off, I have to say this program isn't easy. The added fact that it is online only makes it quite daunting but have no fear Altcademy makes the program both easy to approach, learn and then allow you to apply your skills at the various challenges and projects. By the end of the program you should have a good understanding of CSS, HTML, Javascript.

A big part on why Altcademy worked for me is their instructors. Both instructors, Xiao and Harry were very generous with their time and make it easy for me to reach out to them. Between the chat group, email, 1-on-1 office hours. You can learn on your own pace and also be able to reach out to them at any time. Posting your problem to them in the chat group will usually yield some answers, URL links to where you should follow up.

In some ways the online only aspect allowed a right balance of letting me struggle, figure out my "syntax" errors and then understand how I can correct them. I remember one specific moment when I was doing a particular assignment and was having some problems understanding where I went wrong. During the 1-on-1 office hour, Xiao was very patient with me and went above and beyond to make me understand where I was going wrong. After finishing up, I realized we have gone for about 2.5 hours on that 1 issue I had!

I am thankful that I had the opportunity to learn through Altcademy and can't say enough good things about their programs and offerings. In fact I so enjoyed myself that I will be taking their Back-end Development course in May 2017.
